Wedding Time Capsule

Here’s a little idea we want to share with you today, it’s become somewhat of a growing trend amongst newlyweds, but the concept is nothing new.

The idea is to create a wedding time capsule, something you can fill with mementos of your special day, and open on another special occasion, such as your 25th wedding anniversary.

Perhaps even add a time capsule to your wedding gift list and ask one of your friends to buy it as your wedding present, most guests would love the idea of buying you something so unique. Their are pre-built time capsule kits readily available for purchase, especially designed for weddings.

Maybe you could get your parents, bridesmaid or best man to enter something into the capsule as and added momentum, perhaps something in secret, so when you do eventually open it you will get that added surprise element.

Of course, the longer you leave the capsule before opening it, the more intense the memories will be when they come flooding back to you.
Choosing what goes inside is totally dependant on the couple, and of course the size of the capsule, but here are a few ideas to get you off and running :

• Copy of the wedding service.
• Wedding invitation.
• Pressed flower from the bouquet.
• Wedding favour.
• Guest-book comments.
• Photos.
• Your place cards.
• The garter.

The list is endless really, try and use as much imagination as possible, you’d be amazed of the different or quirky ideas you can have when you think about it.

Another idea is to have some fun and make some predictions between you. If you are planning to open the wedding capsule in 25 years time, then compile a list of things you predict may happen during that 25 years.
Predictions such as :

• The amount of children you expect to have.
• Where you expect to be living.
• What job do you hope to be doing.
• Who will win the football league.
• What you think will be the most popular babies name.

You could have hours of fun predicting the future, even get your friends and family to enter theirs too.

Hiding a Wedding Time Capsule

Once you’ve decided on everything that is going inside the wedding time capsule, you’ll have to find a safe place to hide it. You also don’t really want to move it during that time, or maybe not even see it, as it may be tempting to open a few years down the line.

When you have your chosen date, let a few people know about it, plan to invite as many of the wedding guests as possible and make a party of it.

At some point, it will be a fantastic memory of the past.
